Reception Snack
In Reception, children will be provided with a fruit snack every day.
Children are able to bring a snack of fruit from home instead if they would like to, but please ensure that this is fruit only.
Throughout the year, the children will be encouraged to approach snack time with more independence. Encouraging children to peel their own fruit and pour their own drinks is a great way to support their independence and develop their fine motor skills.
Please refer to the below guidance regarding choking hazards for EYFS age children when preparing food and snacks.

Reading in Reception
Each week, the children in Reception will be provided with a sharing book in their book bag. These books are for you to read, share and enjoy together at home.
In Reception we share stories as a class, in small groups, and children have access to a variety of books to look at independently.
Please share the story together each week and record this in their reading diary. It is recommended that you complete 3 reads a week, which can include favourite stories from home too.
The Reception team will change the book once a week on a Friday.
Once we have completed our Baseline Assessments we will also send home a reading book that is suitable for the stage of reading your child is working at. These books are for your child to have a go at reading a little more independently.
These books will also be changed on a Friday.
In Reception, your child will be bringing home some QR codes which provide links to videos on how to read each sound. Please visit these links to help your child to remember the sound each letter makes.
